Yes, I admit it. I'm a die hard Corduroy fan.
I love the classic instrumental tracks of the early albums, so when I heard about Clik! I feared change. Aspects of drum and bass? Dance? Samples? I had reservations. If you're looking to recreate the high havoc days, you won't find it here, however if you're open to suggestion, here is what Clik! has to offer:

Clik! sees the band return after a 2-year absence, swapping their retro lounge sound for a futuristic, eclectic vein. Experimenting with dance/drum & bass to produce the atmospheric, dreamy 'Paddy & Keir', (a highlight of the album) and 'The Lawgiver Bleeds!' which is an excellent example of corduroy's diverse handiwork fusing drum & bass, wah-wah guitar, military percussion and orchestral hits. There is also a return to the effervescent, feel good pop they dabbled in on 'The New You!', and to a lesser extent 'Out Of Here'. This time round though the 'Roy mix it with disco style samples ('Thing for Your Love'), Eastern vibes ('Safety Light') and a horn section ('New Seeker'). Fans of 'The New You!' should enjoy these offerings. Clik! Also sees an introduction of some energetic, thrashy axe action with dance and samples. Such as 'Goddamn', a sinister, powerful track and 'Play Loud!' an interesting blend of dance and rock n' roll. For the die hard such as myself there are some old 'Roy hallmarks knocking about. The instrumental soundtrack style still lives on in tracks such as 'Moshi Moshi', (a frantic, bleepy Japanese influenced number with plenty of 'ba ba dah's) and 'The Addison Tapes' which has a Mission Impossible / Planet of The Apes feel with fast and furious percussion. Although a departure from the old style that we all know and love, Corduroy has demonstrated their versatility and ability to move with the times. Keep an open mind and you'll find some unexpected gems spanning genres.
