After
a less than amicable split from Acid Jazz, Corduroy Released
'The New You!' on Big Cat.
This album sees Corduroy exploring various sounds from
an uplifting horn section ('Evolver', 'Winky
Wagon'), a string quartet ('The Joker is Wild','The
Hand that Rocks the Cradle'), female backing vocals
('Crossfire', 'Data 70') and the introduction
of a resident percussionist - Don, who features on the
majority of tracks and on tour.
A bittersweet collection of sweet sing along poppy tracks
with sharp, cynical lyrics with themes such as superficiality
('Season of the Rich', 'The New You') and
disillusionment (‘Supercrime', '[I know where
the] good times [have gone]'). Makes you wonder where
the inspiration came from...
